As much as we are aware or have to be aware about learning disabilities
As much as we see the need for schools and programs be establish to help these special needs people
As much as we have to understand them and help them grow to handle their disabilities…..
My GREAT concern is that the parents of these kids are not EXACTLY feeling the same way as we do…..
yes the moms and dads are seeking help and solution, some more desperately than others
yes moms and dads sometimes are clueless about the way to help their child and so seeking the expertise of professionals is their best option…..
BUT I FIND 70% of the parents, once they find a centre that helps they entire leave their burdens to the centre to help..
WHAT ABOUT AT HOME???
they feed the childs habits
they give in to the child’s demand (thinking they are showing love)
they allow they child to go mumbling and acting spasticly (cos they are too tired from day’s work to correct and watch the child throw a tantrum.. they’d rather leave that to Teacher to correct tommorow at school)
MOMS DADS
you may think “only the teacher can really handle my child”
you may say “my child will throw a tantrum if i correct”
you may envy how a teacher can be so good to be able to bring improvements and changes in your child…
but what about YOU? why can’t you???
Don’t tell me you are not trained
Don’t tell me you are not a professional
Don’t tell me your child wont take it from you
Don’t tell me you have done your best but nothing works…
KNOW THIS ONE THING
you have one thing with your child that is to your benefit…YOU ARE HIS mommy and daddy
ALL your reasoning and excuses are valid but if you really really want to see change
BE A PART OF HIS CHANGING PROCESS
not just by paying the fees
persevere work with your child
learn the from the teachers
be strong if you need to
be sacrificial with your time even when you are tired and frustrated
it’s your child for crying out loud
nomatter how good a teacher can be nothing beats a mother’s perseverance
and YOUR CHILD KNOWS IT!!!!
i bet you would die to hear your special child say this oneday…
“my mommy was my greatest teacher”
“my mommy never gave up” …she did not just find help for me… she HELPED Me
