My Week-Long Holiday

Mon – Tues:

For the first time we are going to leave our little home unattended for so long. It was still dark when we left our home. I felt my heart skipping away into that happy holiday mood. I love the coolness of that morning. We drove and drove and at around 9 am we reached our first destination of our Holidays; BIDOR!!!! Hometown of my darl. We were suppose to meet our college mates here who were also on a college field trip, but since we arrived earlier, Lionel drove to his aunty’s noodle shop. WAH a plate of noodles with curry sauce, with lots of liu and 2 cups of drinks only costs us less than RM 4. Cant believe!!! KL RM 4 can only fill a quart of your tummy! We strolled the small town for a while longer. A nostalgic feeling, laid back mood could be sensed throughout the town.

Then the VANS arrived. The bunch of BCM-ers finally touched down on Bidor. And they were ready to devour all the food they could. MUAhahahaha.. DUCK NOODLES was the first to be devoured. Many duck’s drumsticks were cruely chopped off to feed these mouths from KL. ……………………………………………………………………….it was a pity DELICIOUS!!

After consuming ducks, the whole bunch of us moved on to destination 2: KAMPAR! Driving along the crowded streets of people cycling, riding bikes without helmet and big old Hup Seng Buses roaring away, one of our friends spotted our next food stop. The ice kacang shop. Wahlau… at the entrance of the shop was a sign “buy 10 free 1″ back in KL even with the offer of buy 1 free 1, people will still walk away. But I am really wondering what’s with Kamparians that they can confidently put a buy 10 free 1 sign. Either the food is really good or people there love contributing to the economy even if they only get back minimal rewards. Anyway back to the ice-kacang eating frenzy… it was indeed a cold frenzy.. We ordered almost every type we can find on the menu. And we did receive the buy 10 free 1 offer.. LOL

Eating did not ceased after ice-kacang.. we went on snacking on anything we see sold along our way. Too much I forgot what i ate even. Look at all the hungry posers ;)

Good thing we took a break from food and headed to more nature activities. Waterfall was it..! lovely refreshing and good de-stressin. The guys went crazy, the girls were kept cool. haha. Great fun time and crazy time skipping stones. Some of us could skip a good 4 times while many of the rest just sanked the stone. :(

This is the I LOVE NATURE GIRL……. and her recruits

The good part is at least we are not gluttons always..though we may sound like a bunch of them… Our next stop was not about food anymore..It was truly an experience for all of us and it was an interesting one. We visited a drug rehab centre known as the Vineyard Keepers. Visiting Rehab centres always sounds so uncool especially for a holiday stop over. I felt that way…. but wait a minute.. the moment we drove in the drive way of the centre.. It was like in somekind of recreational centre more than a drug rehab centre. SERIOUS.. DEAD SERIOUS… it is a beautiful place.. The rehabilated druggies literally did beautiful wall carvings on almost everywall. The most beautiful part was the chapel. It looked like a cathedral. Angels singing, playing musical instruments, bible story characters we all carved and painted carefully on the walls. The most painstaking art was carving scripture verses. Every alphabet was carved beautifully in celtic fonts ALL OVER THE WALLS.

The centre owns a massive plot of land which allow them to have a fully equipped gym with full sets of weights and sand bags. They have several courts for sports, a huge football fields a farm of cows goats and sheeps. They reared a kennel of huge K9 Dogs. Foxes, monkeys, birds fishes was all part of their animal family. Another section of their land was  alocated for a gorgeous orchard of flowers, plants, fruit trees and vegetation.

When that little excursion was done… we were all set back on FOOD.. food and more food.. It’ll make you feel blotted if I would to blog the details of the food we had.. So I better not spoil your apetite.. My advice is: Go to ipoh and experience the food yourself and BLOG bout it.

Alas we can finally take our shower and bunk in for the night. We all bunk in Emanuel Church, Ipoh like sardines in a can. We girls were shivering through the night in a small air-con room, with hardly any blanket to cover and woke up with sore backs and sore necks from sleeping on the hard floor with only our bags or stack of clothes as pillows.

Here we go gila-gila-siao-siao-pose-pose and SNAP SNAP in the main sanctuary :P

But morning breakfast was comforting to our aches and sprains. Good chee-cheong-fun with the famous mushroom souce. YOU CAN’T get this kind in KL! Look at the toast bread ….. topped with the irresistable mouth watering perfectly done half boiled eggs. Look at the yoke… imagine in seeping through your taste buds as you munch on the freshly toasted bread. YUMMY YUMMY YUM YUM.. I WANT IT NOW!!!!!

Here is a Travel Tip when visiting IPOH.. YOU MUST STOP BY THIS SHOP… (Yee Hup)

Here’s where you can get fresh from the oven Hiong Peng and other chinese homemade Biscuits. This is the shop most famous in all Ipoh. They have several branches all over Ipoh but this particular shop we went is the want where the biscuits are baked then supplied to the branches.. So you guarantee get the freshest of the freshest. After that food shopping we stop for coffee and tea at a mamak. This was our last destination with the gang at Ipoh. The gang would continue into the cave of Gua Tempurung, attempting to finished still in one clean piece. While my hun and me would continue up north to Penang.

The journey to Penang seem to me like a blink of the eye and .. BINGO we reached.. well maybe is because I slept all the way til Penang Bridge. Woke up just in time to take pictures of the Bridge. From the bridge Penang looked like a serene lively harbour city. We headed to Gelugor to USM to meet my bestfriend but the hardworking friend of my was still in lectures so she told me to shop from 12 pm to 6pm then only return to USM. She suggested me to shop at queensbay mall. Shopping.. hmm sounds good for a KL-lite. So we made our way to queensbay. Not familiar with the roads on the island we traveled almost half of Penang to get to the mall which was only like 10 mins away from where we started off. We hit one wrong road after another that’s how we ended up exploring half of the island before finally reaching the mall. The mall is HUGE-MONG-GOUS…. You’ll probably shop til you drop and faint… Dun ever attempt shopping at that mall for so many hours with your Boyfriends.. They will forever be traumatizzzzed.

Anyway, after that long hour shopping, I finally got to meet my dear Eang Bee. We talked alot as usual… it was a good thing her boyfriend was able to join us too. They were a good host. They brought us round Penang town and continue to feed our glutonny. We bunk at his apartment that night. Apparently that night at the apartment i pulled a muscle in my neck. Well many of you may not know that I have weak neck muscles since 14 years old. Due to that I was always advice not to strain my neck and to stay away from active sports. But as you know the way I play my games, no one will think my neck is not suited for any of those sports. Okay so I pulled my neck and it was really bad I could hardly move my neck. I could not even sit down. Almost any slight pressure on my neck in almost any position sent sharp pain from my lower neck to the back of my head. It was really a downer..

Thankfully my caring darl, bought yoko-yoko from a 7-11 store and I pop in a good dose of Postan, lay flat on my back and decide to just sleep off. My darl said a prayer and all i could remember after that was a good tight sleep with my darl beside me through the night.
Wed:

The traffic noice from the streets below woke us up. I sat up, turned and stretched my neck a little here and there … and…. Thank God! It was so much better. Just a little sore stil but no more sharp pains. So I applied more Yoko-yoko and off for breakfast. Eang bee and Abe brought us for Pan Mee and Nasi Lemak. ooooo The Nasi Lemak is so  so much nicer than what we get at Kanna.. LOL…

It was quite a rush breakfast because we had to beat the morning traffic and get to the Penang International Airport for our next Holiday destination.

So zoom zoom we went within minutes we were at the huge automatic glass door of Penang International Airport’s arrival entrace. We bid our dear friends bye… and off they went with our car. They would be babysitting our car for the next 3 days. What a Lovely and fun couple they were…. I wish my best friend all the best.. It’s really fun to hang out with your best friend that had been with you since primary til secondary school days. And the double joy is to be able to share our lives and fun with two added love of our life. What a journey together.

Walking through the airport we check in our single black luggage, got our tickets and chilled at Mc D with a cup of hot tea.

YOU MAY BE NOW WONDERING TO KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR NEXT HOLIDAY DESTINATION…

I’m AweSTRUCK

Nearing my big day….

many says i have lost pounds :(
some say it will be the most stressful time of my life.. (i agree. Thank God it’s only once a lifetime!) :P
i am truly busy with lots of planning, designing, and other stressful major and patty stuffs :(
i’m also juggling it with my assignments and master subjects :(
i have datelines to worry, and datelines to set :(
i have lots of things to prepare for the shifting of house :(
loads of cleaning and scrubbin to be done at new premises :(
appreciation gifts, little here and there(s) are costly $$

my list can go on.. and BORE YOU!

BUT still i’m awestruck! Last wednesday i preached in my church about the worth of serving God and that is JOY! A common word that we discount it’s worth and take it for granted. We minimize the limits of joy many a times

But at this juncture of life, season and time. I found the Joy of God has been more that just :) :) :) it has been my STRENGTH. It sustained me through my long-list of :( :( :( , listed above.

My joy came in terms of speedy recovery from flu, people being a BLESSING and Providence from God, warehouse sales, mega sales all contributed to us being able to get our necessities for the shiftings.

The most amazing thing is that God worked for me every single detail of my big day. God helped in terms of idea for designing, the right location to call up to book, the place to look for the gifts and stuffs we need, providing people to bless us in many ways (financially, materially, skill, ideas, manpower).

I’m awestruck SO AWESTRUCK how REAL GOD can actually be. He was not like some magician that with a fling of his wand everything was perfect-that’s fantasy. BUT he was WORKING with me through the whole process and its a great comfort to know the God of the universe is part of the working team. What is there to be worried??

As the days unfolds, i am seeing that all that i ever dream of for my BIG DAY it’s actually coming true. A Dream Come True. I’m not the richest girl on the planet, if you know me i’m just an average student, serving God full time…. but still at the end I’m receiving so much I can’t count. So much with all my dreams and fantasy in it too!!! God truly knows the desires of our heart. And though so much has been received, everything has been only at a reasonably low cost!!.. Though i may not be the richest but my God of the universe owns evrything and he blesses His children RICHLY!!

Serving God is worth it….. cos’ nothing can compare to that JOY which makes God SO SO REAL in my LIFE!

I can lie and go back to bed knowing my dreams will come true, because God holds my DREAM & He is REAL!

My First Sermon at BCM Chapel

Here’s the Sermon I Preached today at Chapel ><

Character-The Foundation of Leadership

Introduction:

An important key to success as a spiritual leader is character. Take for example the biblical account of a mighty general like Joshua. The bible makes no mention of his size or strength of appearance. In God’s kingdom somehow physical features seemed irrelevant and do not matter much to God, but character does. The reason is simply because people can only do so much to improve their physical and mental abilities, but the potential for character and growth is limitless.

The ministry is an important task. It is like a big assignment from God, and to be able to be successful in this important task, we are required to mature in our character. Now we know that when God chooses a leader, He usually bypassed the most obvious candidates. The common denominator among all those God used mightily is character. However it is important to note that these people that God choose did not arrived on the scene “perfect” in their character. But rather they were people who were willing for God to shape them and stretch them into the people He wanted for His assignments.

The potential lay deep within us. So deep sometimes only God could see it- a character that could be mould and used for His service. We may feel raw, inadequate, or my characters are such and such, I am only suited for the lesser. But God sees deeper than that, if only you are willing to let God look into you and search you and mould and grow that potential that is hidden within you.

This afternoon, I would like to share with you 3 areas we can mature in our characters from the book of Joshua.

Point #1: CHARACTER IN KEEPING YOUR WORD

Let’s turn to Joshua 6:22-23  22 Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, “Go into the prostitute’s house and bring her out and all who belong to her, in accordance with your oath to her.”  23 So the young men who had done the spying went in and brought out Rahab, her father and mother and brothers and all who belonged to her. They brought out her entire family and put them in a place outside the camp of Israel.

Joshua was always a man of his word. Learning to keep our words is one essential character especially for a leader in the ministry. From the passage we have read, we see that Joshua was a man of his word. Though the oath to save Rahab was not made by him, he saw to it that his men kept their word too. He made sure that he and his men honored the promise that they made to Rahab.

In Joshua’s days, men did not normally enter into agreements with women. Certainly in this case with Rahab, the prostitute, their promise with her could have been excused or forgotten during the intensity of the battle. Moreover, Joshua had not made the promise himself, but he was diligent to keep it.

There will be times in our ministry where we know we can be excuse for not keeping our words. It may not be wrong for not keeping our word at that time but we have just wasted another opportunity for God to refine our character. At times when compromising a little integrity for convenience sake seems permissible and acceptable, I guess it is time we paused and rethink the value of our ministry, and reconsider whether should we trade character for a little convenience. I think if we know the value of the task God has given us, we will cease every opportunity to grow in our character.

Joshua understood that a careless word reduces influence. Joshua’s loyal adherence to his word brought him great respect. When Joshua had Achan put to death for disobeying God, he vowed to do the same to the next person violating God’s commands. Everyone knew he meant it. This gave his followers tremendous confidence. His character commanded respect.

As a leader do not make pronouncements but often have no intention of acting on them.  In moments of frustrations, do not make rash statements that you know you cannot carry out. Do not promise to listen to any suggestions, but never follow through that word. Do not promise to faithfully support your colleagues but disappear when the pressure is on. Your followers will soon recognize your character and grow to disregard everything you say.

Remember when you make a vow or a promise to someone; you are accountable to God because He choose you for His work. Every word and promise you make to someone you are making it to God. Ecclesiastes has warned us in Chapter 5 verse 2 and 5, 2 Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.  5 It is better not to vow than to make a vow and not fulfill it.

Point #2: CHARACTER FORGED BY CRISIS

From the historical background of the life of Joshua, we can make an observation that he  came not just from the hardship of his early life but also from the challenges of a difficult childhood. He was born into slavery. He spent forty years in a wilderness because of his people’s lack of faith. He watched his spiritual leaders and heroes die one by one, only Caleb remained. Even when Joshua was experiencing success as his nation’s preeminent general, he was immersed in constant warfare and bloodshed. His was not an easy life.

In the life of Joshua, he could not pick and choose God’s assignment for him. He could not choose assignments that were safer or more assuring. Neither did he have control over the people’s reaction. He had no control over what his fellow Israelites of his enemies would do. But what Joshua could determine was how accessible to God his life would be.

In ministry we may not be able to choose safe and comfortable assignments. We may not have control over the people we serve. We may not be able to stop people from criticizing but one amazing thing we can experience in times of crisis is the transforming power of God, changing and building our character which will ultimately result in a stronger character.

Let’s turn to James 1:2-4  2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds,  3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

From this verses we can draw out that how we respond to crisis and challenging situation in our lives are vital. Are we going to allow trials to leave a bitter scar or are we going to allow trials to forge strength humility and compassion.  God uses challenges and crisis to fashion and humble the character of a minister.

Joshua approached the challenging moments of his life with humble dependence on God. While hardships tempted other leaders of his time to forfeit their faith and doubt God, Joshua grew to trust God more. And the result was a strong character that could stand firm in times of fear, temptations and doubts

Point #3: CHARACTER IN BEING ACCOUNTABLE TO GOD

Joshua 24:15b But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD. 16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!  17 It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.  18 And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the LORD, because he is our God.”  19 Joshua said to the people, “You are not able to serve the LORD. He is a holy God; he is a jealous God. He will not forgive your rebellion and your sins.  20 If you forsake the LORD and serve foreign gods, he will turn and bring disaster on you and make an end of you, after he has been good to you.”

When Joshua declared to the people, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD”, it was a declaration that came out of a heart of reverence towards God. The revered God because he knew who God is, he knew God is a Holy God, a Jealous God. And how then can he serve such a holy God with an unholy life. To Joshua, accountability to God, was not a matter of duty, it was not a matter of preference neither was it a question of rights; it was all a matter of reverence. He could boldly declared that he will serve the Lord, and he indeed has made it a priority to serve God righteously.

Tragically many Christian leaders to day are devoid of profound sense of reverence for God. The culture today emphasizes on God’s unmerited love but failed to mention God’s holiness and judgement. As ministers, we will be faced with temptations that will try to lure us off our tracks, so it is clearly important that we daily remind ourselves of the God we are serving. Remind yourself that you are serving a Holy God, and yet it is a Holy God that chose you to serve him. Remind yourself that God is a jealous God and God covets our service and commitment to Him. When we have that image of God in our minds constantly, we will find the strength to shun temptation, to shun ungodliness. And it is all done out of reverence and out of love for God. We won’t be doing it just because we have to, or we are expected to do so or because it is part of a religious duty as a minister. It is impossible to fear God and yet tolerate sin in your life.

Joshua captured this perspective of God well, in the verses that we have read, Joshua understood that God coveted his allegiance. God would not look the other way if Joshua betrayed Him. He knew God would never be satisfied with the crumbs that fell from the plate of Joshua’s affections. Hence, Joshua strongly urged the people to either wholeheartedly follow God or else reject Him. He discouraged them from trying to follow God in a careless fashion.

In conclusion, let me encourage you to be leaders that not only have the charisma but more importantly leaders of character. There are no shortcuts to success with God. He will constantly stretch you and mould you and fashion your character to be like Christ’s.

Therefore, may we all grow to be leaders whose words are always backed with action. And remember as a leader will cannot run away from times of distress but we can shift our focus from the crisis to our character. We can welcome God’s way of transforming and molding our character so that we will always be fit for the ministry God has installed for us. Finally remember at the root of our service and ministries there must be a healthy fear of God, so that we can always remain accountable to God.

May we,  each and every one of us here walk out of this campus one day, not just ready to be leaders, but be leaders, pastors, church worker of great character.

God bless.

Melaka E-Team

Back from Melaka E team

First e team for the year 2009 and it was to Melaka, Bandaraya Bersejarah (historical city).

With a team of 6 we left KL on Saturday morning and arrived at about 11 am at Bethel AOG, Melaka. The team settled down and started practicing the Special presentation and Worship session. The good part was we were able to get to work right away with not much of a fuss or hassle… Hmm.. I am wondering what was our motivation then??? After that we went to our respective lodgings. The guys stayed one floor above the sanctuary at the chinese church while the girls went FOUR floors above to a residential 3 room flat. The room we girls got was so small it could fit nothing else accept our 3 mattreses. After laying out the mattreses we had no room to walk about. No more clear floor to step, just mattreses to step on. No windows for fresh air, just one cold air-con which had no remote contro to control the temperature and a huge commercial fan.

After all that settling down we went out for SHOPPING,  TOWN HOPPING, & MELAKA FOOD!!!! nice.. Great hot sunny day to walk round town and just enjoy the sights, scenes, the historical architecture, smell of various food, and the weather. I enjoyed myself throughly. Thanks to our tour guide, Jason Foo. By the time we got back was about 4.45pm. We took a short nap and rush out for a quick dinner. Dinner was bad for me. I had Kuey Teow Soup. The noodle was so elastic that you could hardly bite through. Must have had lots of Boric Acid in it. Sighs… Didn’t dare take the risk of finishing up that bowl of boric acid noodles.

 ~snake handlers of Christ Church~

8.pm. The service began…… Worship was quite long, led by Bethel members. I don’t know if they usually have long worship or they just made it long that day because we were there… After that was INTRODUCING the BCM team.. We did a Special and a Testimony and it was handed over to Ps. Alex Soh to complete the job fo rthe night. He preached well!!!! After the service the team was asked to pray and minister to the youths. I am so so surprise that Bethel Church youth meeting is held after the main service every Saturday Night.

We were done for the first day’s service and now its supper time.. Off we went for Satay Celup. The street that we went had 3 satay celup stalls, all beside one another. One was a grand decorated shop (d’celup), the second was more open concept similar to OLD TOWN (Zao Jiuu) and the third was a typical cheapy stall with no decos (Ban Lee Siang)…And guess what.. that typical stall was jam pack. No seats left. So we had to go to the second shop.

Here is the story of Panda Fish

Panda Fish is fish paste made in to the shape of a cute pink panda…. Now look at the following pictures..

“Save the Panda Fish!!! Evryday hundreds of them are being celup-ed!!!!”

Hopefully this pictures serve as a public awareness.

Later, our tour guide, Jason drove us through Melaka streets with rows and rows of modern buildings that were brightly lit with many coloured lights while  the historical and traditional nyonya buildings were dimly glowing in red lights. What a beautiful nostalgic feel to the whole city. Finally we reached the city’s lantern festival. Where huge lantern sculptures decorated the whole area. There were building, towers, castles, palaces, traditional kampung houses all made of lantern. There was also a little garden/park with all the flowers and plants made of lantern. There were animals, traditional trasportation ie. beca (trishaw) and the kereta lembu (bullockcart) made of lantern. I enjoyed the colors and the lights. Right beside the lantern festival was the Melaka River where river cruises was provided for visitors and foreigners. And take note the time was past 12 mid night and the city was still so alive. The difference with the nightlife in KL compare to Melaka was that in KL, you hear car engines, you hear the street bustling with noise and loud music, you see the youth culture come alive at full force, and less families will be seen hanging out in the heart of KL in the wee hours of the morning. But over at Melaka the city comes alive at night with lights, and families stolling the streets, families gathering and makan stalls, kids running with lanterns and lights at the lantern festival, couples taking rides on the beca as they take in the nightlife, youths hang out but not in lala apparels. They come out in decent clothes, mostly just house shorts and T-shirts. I love the simplicity of life there. Its not too quiet, it’s modernity weaved with the quietness of life, added with the flavours of culture and a tinge of traditions. What an awesome blend.

We finally got back at about 1am in the morning and hit the sack immediatly.

Day 2 at melaka. Had a simple breakfast at the church prepared by Bethel Church, then it was time to roll out. We led worship, then Ps. Alex gave another good sermon accompanied with many funny jokes. LOL….. After the meeting ended the team spent time fellowshipping with the members. A group of young girls, who were upcoming pianist for the church, came up to me and aske some playing tips. So I spent my whole time giving them what I could. Then it was time for photos and BYE BYE to Bethel Church.

Our last destination for this trip was when Ps Emily, the Chinese Department Pastor took us to a Chinese Restaurant for a hearty chinese lunch. With hearts minds and tummy all filled…..yawns….. We bid GOODBYE to Mei Fern, Ps. Emily and Jason Foo………………………CHAOZ…

My 3rd Year Ended

My 3rd year in BCM has just ended. All that stress from assignments, work, duties have all come to a sudden halt. Yesterday was the finale of the year- the Graduation Exercise. For as much as I feel happy for the graduates, I’m always asking myself when will be my turn? how will it be like?…. Anyway the day passed smoothly. I gave my best on the key board. It may be the last time for me to be able to play at the graduation exercise since i wil be part-time next year or maybe graduating next year. I was glad I gave my best.

the past few days before the graduation exercise was full of events, happening, work and more work. Besides the much things that needed to be done, much things i learned, seen, and realized too. In terms of the people around me, my self, my peers etc…. it was rather interesting as well as saddening at times.

One of the treasured times this week was the evening with 4 other girlfriends. We hung out at Midvalley, ate at dominos and had a good time to really talk like we seldom do, laugh which we almost never did for a long time, and pamaper our taste buds. Interestingly WE DIDN’T SHOP!! it was a worthwhile time of sharing and bonding. I really enjoyed that evening!

Now i’m sitting here in the church office. It’s the first day of the holidays. Sometimes its hard to cope with no work, no college, too free…. LOL…..

High Touch

This is my third annual camp ever since I set foot at the Bible College of Malaysia. And the second time being part of the camp committee. The camp committee basically plans everything from the lodgings to the preparation to the gifts and etc etc etc. Throughout the 2 months of planning and preparation there were alot of things learnt from each other as committee members. We made mistakes, we slacked in certain of the jobs assigned, there were miscommunications, and headache moments when making arrangements for the roomings. Well, but after its all over, I would say we did made quite a team. Maybe not exactly being able to fulfill each of our roles perfectly as assigned but rather helping anc making it up for each other and in the end the camp turn out to be a rather successful one.

I believe that the camp speaker, Ps. Julie Khoo has in many ways impacted and touch our lives and refresh many hearts all through that 3 days at Elsanctuary, Melaka. Her message were not stereotyped camp sermons but rather she really had in mind the Bible College students, staffs and faculty and preached on subjects that convicted us, and also encourages us to continue serving God faithfully. I personally was very touch and encouraged. The week and even months before this camp there has been so much going with assignments and other church work, for me and many others, hence this camp was really really refreshing like water being poured on parched land.

The venue that we choose this year was one close to mother nature, where chalets will built on slopes amongst the rubber trees and greenery. Away from the city traffic and brick walls, the atmosphere there was green, fresh, natural, and serene. Run by a family, this retreat campsite was built with much effort and I would give credits for the way it is well maintained. Oh not forgetting the food there-its just mouth watering, and you will surely look forward to the next meal. The meals are fusion of local, chinese and western. Part of the family that does the cooking were formally chefs at the J.W Marriot Hotel and also cooks in their very own restaurant chains. So thats why sure YUMMY YUMMY lah.

On the second night of the camp, a group of 13 students decided to do a night jungle trek. After much persuading between the camp advisor, Ps. Florence, we were reluctantly ‘blessed’ to proceed with our mini adventure. WIth much prayers by our dear Ps. Florence  the 13 of us managed to finish the trail, crossed one muddy river and a mud pool full of leaches, unharmed. hee heee….

Escaped!!

Here’s a news cutting from thestar online:

KUALA LUMPUR: A lorry driver lost control of his 10-tonne lorry near Taman Connaught, Cheras, here, at 9am Friday, ramming into seven vehicles.

A correction about this news. The time of the accident is about an hour plus earlier. This is proven because one of my church member passed by the accident site around 7.30 and it had already taken place.

oh well that’s so much about the error in the time. I’m just thankful when i heard about this incident from my church member who saw the accident. Usually i leave my house to drive to school at around 7 am which means i will pass by Connaught around the time of the accident. Thankfully today, I had to pick up a church member and drop her off at her house in PJ, so i decided to leave earlier to avoid the jam. Little did I know i was escaping the worst accident that ever happened in Cheras. A Lorry driver lost control of his vechicle came charging from the opposite lane onto the other lane, crashing into a number of vechicles causing the death of two people and injuring quite few others. One of the deceased was a motorist whose head was almost severed off. His head was dangling off the neck. Gruesome it may sound, but to think of it, I could be one of those involve in that freaky accident if i had not gone out of the house before 7am. Even if it’s not about getting involve in the accident I would probably be caught in the massive jam caused by the whole incident. Whichever, I’m so greatful for God’s protection.
