Youth Camp 2009

I’ll walk you through the story with pictures…

Sounds interesting???

Ok it was a 4 days 3 nights camp at Dusun Eco, Bt. Tinggi.

Well to me the venue was really “back to nature” especially for the toilets.. they really almost reached the “back to nature standard” LOL.. not complaining but YES there’s a froggie in the toilet, big black lizards (they jump), snails, lots of insects and erm…. a huge long milipede – ok non of these creatures are deadly, so that’s good but they are FREAKY. Especially if you have to bath with them or brush your teeth with them. Adding to the company is the freezing cold mountain water that could send chills up your spines…

OK I HOPE I SCARED YOU!!!! WAHHAHAHAHAH evil laughs…….

Upon reaching the foothill of the campsite, we were FORCED to climb and work our butt muscles up to the campsite. Thank God the luggages were transported by a jeep. I wish i was part of the luggages. :(

Ok so yee hah…. here we go up and up the hill… (please forgive the poser in the third picture) :P

Alright we all reached up safely with some muscles tonned.. hopefully! And after a short brief we had games (GAMES THAT HURT OUR BUTTS EVEN MORE!!!!!) what!!!????? is this a boot butt camp???

 come on SPLIT!!!!

   Oh Boy! More POSERS!!

YEAP!!! THAT IS A SPLIIIIT!!

But however those amazing splitters did not win the game. My team led by MR. CHRIS CHIN of Team Roti Ikan WON!!

We may not be able to split our legs but our brain and strategy power made it!!! SORRY I’M BRAGGIN….

This is the game that burned our butts!! Burned because we had to move from one end of the scorching cement floor to the other end on our BUTTS!! ouch ouch.. I feel the pain and the muscles cramps so badly I decided one picture of this game ordeal is more than enough for anyone to picture the scenario 20 mortal humans had to endure.

LOOK AT THEIR EXPRESSIONS!!! Poor thing

NEXT NEXT  Please…. Ahh.. yes LEGS.. LEGS.. beautiful legs.. look at my team parading their legs. And look at that “ON YOUR MARKS” pose…. SWEET.. look look at how they speed away together as a team of bread and fishes…… lol

By the pool alone…. then God saw that it was not good for the woman to be alone so he sent… ADAM  LIONEL!!!

And God Multiplied filled the waters of the pool with……..

Throughout the camps activities and games were competed between 3 teams. The Faith Team, The Flame of the Bush Team and TEAM Roti Ikan (MY TEAM!!).

We had to compete in a cheer, a skit and games. For the cheer we had to do it 3 times and the the revised version of our unconventional team won First Placing. As for the skit, my team we did a modern day Jonah skit. I have to SALUTE my team mates. They were astoundingly amazing in the skit. It was like they perfectly suited the characters of the skit. It was hilarious, yet the message was clear. I have done this exact skit with other groups from other places but i must admit Roti Ikan was the best team i worked with!!! HURRAY guys!!

Please welcome the Roti Ikan TEAM!!

MS. Daredevil …..

I did the hanging bridge, flying fox and a rainy jungle trekkin……. i still came out alive and well!

See the sun glass??? hahaha it is so that no one will know if I closed my eyes or not, as long as i keep SMILING! lol

Not forgetting the God-sent VIP of the camp. Rev. Chris Pak!

He’s so sensitive to the needs of the teens. I admired his teaching and the way he connected and reached out to a generation that is like so apart from his. Well at the end of the camp, the teens were like his buddies. Oh yeah, he did the flying fox too!! ;)

Okay!!! There’s alot more of the camp… but due to time I have to keep it short and sweet….

Go Sword Squad!!

High Touch

This is my third annual camp ever since I set foot at the Bible College of Malaysia. And the second time being part of the camp committee. The camp committee basically plans everything from the lodgings to the preparation to the gifts and etc etc etc. Throughout the 2 months of planning and preparation there were alot of things learnt from each other as committee members. We made mistakes, we slacked in certain of the jobs assigned, there were miscommunications, and headache moments when making arrangements for the roomings. Well, but after its all over, I would say we did made quite a team. Maybe not exactly being able to fulfill each of our roles perfectly as assigned but rather helping anc making it up for each other and in the end the camp turn out to be a rather successful one.

I believe that the camp speaker, Ps. Julie Khoo has in many ways impacted and touch our lives and refresh many hearts all through that 3 days at Elsanctuary, Melaka. Her message were not stereotyped camp sermons but rather she really had in mind the Bible College students, staffs and faculty and preached on subjects that convicted us, and also encourages us to continue serving God faithfully. I personally was very touch and encouraged. The week and even months before this camp there has been so much going with assignments and other church work, for me and many others, hence this camp was really really refreshing like water being poured on parched land.

The venue that we choose this year was one close to mother nature, where chalets will built on slopes amongst the rubber trees and greenery. Away from the city traffic and brick walls, the atmosphere there was green, fresh, natural, and serene. Run by a family, this retreat campsite was built with much effort and I would give credits for the way it is well maintained. Oh not forgetting the food there-its just mouth watering, and you will surely look forward to the next meal. The meals are fusion of local, chinese and western. Part of the family that does the cooking were formally chefs at the J.W Marriot Hotel and also cooks in their very own restaurant chains. So thats why sure YUMMY YUMMY lah.

On the second night of the camp, a group of 13 students decided to do a night jungle trek. After much persuading between the camp advisor, Ps. Florence, we were reluctantly ‘blessed’ to proceed with our mini adventure. WIth much prayers by our dear Ps. Florence  the 13 of us managed to finish the trail, crossed one muddy river and a mud pool full of leaches, unharmed. hee heee….

It has been such an experience for us as camp commitees, that we took the that as a chance to pamper ourselves to a mini delicious celebration at T.G.I Fridays!!!!!!
